RUDHEATH were left to rue missed chances on Saturday after they drew a fifth successive Cheshire League Premier Division match.

They went closest during the first half at Rylands when Ryan Jackson fired off target, a trick he repeated in the final five minutes when through on goal.

Andrew Whitney and Sean Tierney also had chances to score, but neither found a way past goalkeeper Andrew Moor.

Jackson was on target for the Cheshire League’s representative team when they lost 2-1 against their West Cheshire League counterparts in the annual Cooper Trophy match last Tuesday.

Bojan Karanlang and Jamie Weeder scored for Paul Jones’ men.

Cuddington’s hopes of reaching the quarter finals were hit following a 4-1 defeat at Mersey Valley in Group Four.

Andrew Morley put the home team in front after the interval, a lead doubled when he turned provider for Andy Barlow.

Rory McDonald made it 3-0 with a quarter of an hour left from Kyle Watson’s assist before the latter found the net himself.

Scott Ravenscroft replied late on for Cuddy.

Middlewich Town lost by the odd goal in five in the same section at Tarporley Victoria, where Joe O’Sullivan and Stuart Tulloch claimed the Witches’ goals.

Danny Ball, Richard Moss and Alastair Taylor tipped the contest the home team’s way.

Jamie Smithers’ second-half double for Middlewich reserves earned a 2-2 draw at Sandbach United in the Reserve Division Challenge Cup.

Jake Pearson and Adam Clayton had put the home team in front before the break.
