Match pointers

WITTON seek to extend a four-match unbeaten sequence in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League when they visit Barwell on Saturday.

The visitors, comfortable victors at home to Halesowen Town in midweek, are boosted by the return of in-form attacker Scott Bakkor following a holiday.

It leaves Albion’s caretaker management team with a dilemma after on-loan Josh Hancock impressed during Tuesday’s 2-0 win at Wincham Park.

Captain Sam Barnes (hamstring) is still ruled out by injury.

Hosts Barwell recorded their first league win of the campaign at home to Rushall Olympic in midweek, when goalkeeper Liam Castle was among their scorers in a 3-1 win.

Manager Jimmy Ginnelly selected new recruits Ant Carney, an attacker, and midfielder Brendan Murphy for the first time since their arrival.

Before that the Canaries, beaten 2-0 by Witton in the corresponding fixture back in April, had lost three of their opening five Premier Division matches.
