Match pointers

WITTON start life after Brian Pritchard with a trip to Whitby, one of their happiest hunting grounds since the Blues joined the Northern Premier League.

Albion, with Anthony Sheehan, Nigel Deeley and Dave Andrew in temporary charge, have lost only one of their past seven visits with four of those ending in victory.

Their form this term has improved too, with back-to-back wins against Workington and Marine over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Captain Sam Barnes (hamstring) is still ruled out by injury, while Alex Titchiner will likely start again from the bench while he improves his match fitness.

The visitors will include also wide man Josh Hancock in their squad if paperwork for a month-long loan move from AFC Telford United is completed in time.

Whitby occupy the table’s bottom spot after scoring a single point from their first four matches, though that was last time out at Blyth Spartans.

They were boosted by the return of experienced midfielder Dave McTiernan from suspension for the 2-2 draw, while Steve Snaith bagged a brace on his first start of the season.

The last time Blues beat Witton at the Turnbull was in April 2009, a result that sealed the Northwich outfit’s relegation from the Premier Division.
