AFTER providing a finalist in each of the past two editions, there are no teams from the Mid-Cheshire Bowling Association in this season’s last eight.

Wharton Cons, winners in 2012, bowed out by nine chalks against Tixall at Orford War Memorial in Warrington on Saturday.

The Wirral outfit were conquered by runners-up Castle Private at the semi-finals stage last year.

However a 202-193 success keeps alive their hopes of going one better this time around.

Rudheath bowed out against Nursery by a 14-point margin at Coronation, while there were heavy defeats elsewhere for Frodsham Red Lion – against holders Lloyd Hotel A – and Beech Tree.

The Barnton club could not halt the progress of St Oswald’s, from Warrington, at Mere Parish.

Lloyd Hotel A have been paired with Tixall in the quarter finals draw.

Matches take place on July 12.
