Mike Moseley announces he is to step down as assistant to Brian Pritchard at Witton Albion
MIKE Moseley has announced he is leaving Witton Albion this summer after three seasons as assistant to boss Brian Pritchard.
The striker, just 16 goals short of the club’s all-time scoring record after hitting the net 162 times since arriving at Wincham Park for the first of two spells back in 2001, wishes to spend more time with his family.
Anthony Sheehan will join the management team in his place.
“It doesn’t look like I’ll break that goal-scoring record, but helping the club to promotion back to the Premier Division [in 2012] is probably my best memory.
“Witton is a special club with great people, and I’m proud to have played a part. I’ve enjoyed every minute.
“I’d like to thank Pritch and the chairman for giving to me the opportunity to join the management team for what has been a successful three years, and wish them and the Albion supporters every success in the future.”
Moseley, now 35, has made more than 300 starts in close to 400 appearances as a player with Witton.
He signed initially from Runcorn, returning in February 2009 after helping Bradford Park Avenue to promotion on the pitch previous season.
The forward later fought his way back to fitness too after surgery on a broken leg near the end of the following campaign.
He scored once last season during a Mid-Cheshire District FA Senior Cup tie against Barnton.
Pritchard said: “Mike is a Witton legend, and I’m gutted he’s decided to leave.
“He’s been a great support to me during our days playing together and also while I’ve been manager.
“He’s been a vital part of what we’ve achieved over the past three years along with Nige [Deeley] and Dave [Andrew] and he’ll be sorely missed.
“Knowing Mike as I do, I’m certain we’ll see him at the ground before too long and back in the dressing room with the lads.”
Witton confirmed on Thursday that Moseley has accepted an invitation to become a vice president at the club.
