MID-CHESHIRE B suffered a slender defeat in their Federation National League encounter with North Yorkshire in Division Four on Sunday.

Both teams returned 12 winners each across matches at Frodsham Red Lion and Low Harrogate, but North Yorkshire claimed an 18-14 victory by virtue of scoring more points on aggregate.

Nine bowlers won their head-to-head for Mid-Cheshire B in a 233-189 success in the home leg.

They were Paul Drinkwater (Meadowbank), Paul Farrington (Middlewich), Nigel Faulkner (Castle Private), John Greatbanks (Hazel Pear), Anthony Hallwood (Barnton Cricket Club), Dave Hamlett senior (Wharton Cons), Dennis Leather (Comberbach), Tim Shaw (Castle Private) and Len Stubbs (Winsford Cons).

North Yorkshire dropped only six chalks in a 246-178 success at Harrogate, where Martin Gerrard (Owley Wood), Stuart Morrey (Barnton Cricket Club) were Mid-Cheshire’s only winners.

After beating Fylde in their opening game, they will target a return to winning ways against Bury next time out.
