CASTLE Private A continue to set the pace in a race to win the Premier Division title after recording a sixth successive win on Friday.
Their latest victory was a close one, by seven chalks, against Wharton Cons A – their main rivals for first place last season.
It leaves the Winsford outfit 249 points adrift with a game in hand.
For now, Frodsham Red Lion A are closest to the leaders following a slender nine-chalk success at Rudheath A.
Hop Pole were the week’s biggest winners, dropping only seven marks in a crushing home success at Castle Private B’s expense.
Teams playing at home each recorded a victory in Section One, with Frodsham Red Lion B 99 chalks ahead of guests Sandbach Park on aggregate.
Crosstown A’s score was highest, the Knutsford outfit reaching 245 at home to Beech Tree A.
Davenham A passed 200 at Frodsham Red Lion C, but it was not enough to avoid a fourth defeat in five matches this season.
Newcomers Alsager Institute protected their perfect record in Section Two by beating Wharton Cons C, but the biggest win was recorded by Spinner & Bergamot.
The men from Comberbach were 106 points clear of their hosts Cuddington A, adrift already at the bottom of the table.
Elsewhere Middlewich RBL and Rudheath B were winners away from home at Hartford A and Hazel Pear A respectively.
Tarporley RBL A’s tally was the biggest in Section Three, where they reached 236 at home to Crowton.
Rudheath C were close behind with 232 against Hazel Pear B, though the Middlewich Road outfit’s margin of victory was greater.
Winnington A closed to within 12 chalks of leaders Frodsham Red Lion D following their win against Bunbury at the Rec.
In Section Four, Davenham B are out in front after totalling 242 in a home victory against Moulton RBL B.
Barnton CC B, conquerors of Owley Wood C, are next best in the latest table.
There were no away winners either in Section Five, where Kelsall B collected 234 chalks against depleted Lostock.
Barnton CC C lead the way, for now at least, after beating Tarporley RBL B though village neighbours Beech Tree B will likely catch them if they win their game in hand.
