TWO teenagers from Winsford Swimming Club won gold medals at the ASA North West Region Youth Championships.

Ashley Hogg was a victor in the under 16s boys’ 400m and 1,500m freestyle in Liverpool, breaking a 15-year competition record in the latter after timing 16:21.80.

He collected a pair of silver gongs too, in the 100m butterfly and 400m individual medley.

Clubmate Oliver Rose was fastest in the under 16s boys’ 100m breaststroke, clocking 31.61s, adding a bronze medal for the same stroke over 100m.

They have both already posted times that guarantee entry to the British National Youth Championships in Manchester later this year.

Winsford’s men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team will join them there after placing third in their final, pipping City of Liverpool to a medal.

Alex Law, Callum Chapple, Amy booth, Cameron Jones, Brandon Sharkey and Jordan Gaskell completed Winsford’s eight-strong line-up.
