CRAIG Winslow reached three finals in Mid Cheshire League competitions this season, only to finish as runner-up on two occasions.

The Pockets C regular let slip a 2-0 lead in the Hyundai Champion Trophy against Middlewich Legion’s Dave Hodkinson, who recovered to win the next four frames at Owley Wood in a close tactical battle.

He wins the competition for the first time, ending Pockets man Stewart Colclough’s run of three successive victories since 2011.

Colcough took consolation by lifting the Clare Cup for the ninth time after a whitewash of Winslow, a century break in the second frame the highlight of his latest victory.

Will Hudd, from Wharton Cons, could not retain his Individual Handicap crown.

He lost against Middlewich Legion’s Martin Ryder in the final at Winsford Cons.

Legion’s Charles Ollier, runner-up in the Ashley Handicap for seniors a year ago, went one better in his latest attempt after scoring a 2-0 success against Derrick Edwards of Riley’s.

Edwards was a victor in the Alliance Pairs Handicap though, teaming up with Mark Faddis to ease past Pockets duo Billy Hopkins and Paul Hatherley without conceding a frame.

Meadowbank B, represented by captain Andrew Nolan, Peter Wood, John Ashley, Steve Rigby, John Edmonds, Ashley Hodkinson, James Harrop and David Dickenson, won the Charity Team Knockout for a second successive season.

They edged higher-ranked Middlewich Legion B in a close final at Owley Wood.

In the Team Handicap Knockout, Pockets C won five of six frames played against last year’s Premier Division champions Middlewich Legion D.

The Owley Wood Knockout trophy was claimed by the Winsford club too with Colclough – making his a title he had not won previously – Winslow and Richard Proctor their representatives in the three-man team contest.
