DAVENHAM are one of three teams able to boast of a perfect record after easing to a third successive win in Division One on Saturday.

Captain Mark Greaves led the way after the hosts had won the toss at Cheadle Hulme, contributing an unbeaten 66 to the visitors’ 179-7 with support from Chris Hornby (29).

The hosts fell 55 runs short in their chase after tea, spinner Danny Hancock claiming 5-28 to help dismiss the Grove Park men for 124.

Greaves said: “We didn’t have Dean Jackson, who was injured, so the lads proved we have strength in depth to still pick up the points.”

Middlewich had the better of a high-scoring derby in the same section at Oulton Park.

Kristian Clowes hammered 139 off 72 balls and newcomer Jordie Gibbens added 95 from 85 deliveries in a partnership worth 204 runs for the eighth wicket as Middlewich amassed 298-7.

Andy Hards returned figures of 3-60, while Oulton captain Rick Moore suffered badly as his 10 overs cost 92 runs.

He wreaked revenge with the bat, making 143 runs at the top of the order to help the hosts to 273-8 and a share of the spoils as Gibbens (4-61) completed a fine afternoon’s work.

Like Davenham, Northwich have put together a sequence of three straight wins.

They were again indebted to in-form Sam Shepherd after a 75-run victory against Poynton at Moss Farm, the seamer increasing his season tally to 21 wickets after a return worth 6-28 after tea.

It left the visitors all out on 100, with Mike Whitehead (2-9) and captain Mark Walker (2-2) taking the other wickets to fall.

Earlier, Glinoj Cherian (58) passed 50 in the hosts’ 175-9 with James Gittings (37) and Sam Stoneley (26) among the runs too.

Wilden Cornwall (62no) was left stranded as Weaverham were knocked over for 120 while chasing 146 to beat guests Bredbury St Mark’s at Wallerscote Road.

John Usher (4-50) and Graham Barlow (3-18) did the damage for the away team.

Before tea Cornwall (3-59) and Rob MacMillan (2-52) had been most successful for the Russets with the ball as Bredbury posted 145-9 after winning the toss.
