FRED Backhouse, from champions Rudheath, will hope to avenge a defeat in last season’s Northwich and District League Division One singles final tonight, Wednesday.

He faces holder Darryl Fallows (Owley Wood A) at Gladstone Club.

They eased through semi finals with Barn Owl D’s Matty Fallows and Leigh Cobley respectively.

In the Division Two head-to-head, Martyn Raistrick (Hartford A) will take on Greenbank A’s Nigel Massey following their last four successes against Les Savage (Castle Private) and Greg Simpson (Bowling Green B).

Beech Tree A’s Sam Littler and Darren Walton, of Davenham Legion, are rivals for singles honours in Division Three following slender victories against Steve James (Barn Owl E) and Darren Campbell (Chapels).

Owley Wood’s Lisa Edwards has already claimed the ladies’ crown, adding to the title she won in 2008 after edging two-time former winner Amanda Oakes (Blue Barrel) in the final.
