Match pointers
1874 NORTHWICH have beaten two Premier Division teams to reach the competition’s last four, but to make it a hat-trick must overturn a 3-1 deficit.

Their record at Barton Stadium is formidable though, with no defeat in league or cup since September 28 – a sequence of a dozen matches.

Manager Ian Street will be forced into at least one change to the team that eased past Atherton LR last weekend, with skipper Lee Jones due to serve a suspension.

Chris Lunn (hamstring) is ruled out through injury.

Stuart Wellstead’s goal in the first leg was the first conceded by Maine Road, Challenge Cup winners in 2008, during this season’s edition.

The visitors have failed to score in two league games since he teams’ first meeting the week before last.

Maine Road have lost in Winsford this term too – a 1-0 reverse against Blues last month.
