Tyldeseley 10 Winnington Park 66

WINNINGTON Park are completing the campaign with their best run of results after recording a third successive win on Saturday.

They ran in 10 tries at relegated Tyldesley, racking up their highest points total in a league game this term.

A victory against back-markers Ashton this weekend could see them match last season’s eighth-place finish.

The visitors were bright from the start during their latest success, taking the lead when captain Harry Stubbs charged over following a powerful run to within five metres of the line by Elliot Reeks. Sam Brookes added the extras.

Brookes and Reeks combined before releasing scrum half Mike Jones, who rounded Tyldesley’s full back to cross for another converted score.

Park continued to apply pressure, adding to their advantage when Stubbs brushed aside would-be tacklers to score between the sticks.

Brookes again slotted the conversion.

When Brookes’ attempted clearance following a lineout was charged down, Tyldesley claimed their first try.

Winnington replied immediately, Brookes picking out Gary Dykes who sliced through a retreating defence in style to set up for a fourth converted score.

Stubbs spent time in the sin bin, but it did not deter Mark Warr’s men from swelling their points tally when Tom Witter ran more than 40 metres to the whitewash.

Substitute Connor Lepwinski announced his arrival with a huge hit on his opposite number, before returning centre Fraser Lindsay claimed his side’s sixth try before the break.

After half time, Winnington shoved their hosts off their own scrum to allow Jones to feed Lindsay. He tempted two defenders before off-loading for Reeks to score.

Tyldsley replied with a try, but when Chris Heptinstall stepped a covering defender and scored, Brookes again obliged with the extras.

Witter dropped on the loose ball for his second try before quick hands set up Gareth Owen to complete the rout.
