POCKETS C could not make the most of an opportunity to move closer to the Mid Cheshire League summit after losing to Castle Private A.

It leaves Premier Division leaders Owley Wood A six points clear, with a game in hand.

Elsewhere in the top flight, Riley’s whitewashed Middlewich Legion B, while third-placed Middlewich Legion D eased past rock-bottom Legion A.

Castle Private B made theirs the Division One title after securing the single frame they needed in a 5-2 defeat against closest rivals Wharton Cons D.

The Winsford outfit will join them in the competition’s highest level from next season.

Winnington A are closer to securing first place in Division Two after thrashing Winnington D, while second-placed Cosey Club succumbed to Moulton.

Wharton Cons A’s hopes of promotion from Division Three were hit by losing 5-2 at home to Meadowbank A.
