WEAVER Valley Cycling Club were well represented in the latest Manchester and District Time Trial Association 10 at the weekend.

Jacob Booth excelled, placing third in the juniors’ category after completing a course on roads around Twemlow Green and Chelford in a time of 25:11.

Joe Evans, from Haribo Beacon Racing Team, was the class victor in a scorching 22:09.

Almost 150 riders made up the seniors’ field, with Dave Fearon best-placed Weaver Valley member on a fixed gear bike.

An unusual feature of the race was a tricycle category that attracted a dozen entrants from across the country, with Weaver Valley’s Dennis Hornby pipping them all in 31:03.

Newcomer, veteran Alan Shuttleworth, was close behind him after clocking 31:25.

Meanwhile James Risk raced against older boys in Brecon, South Wales, when British Cycling’s Junior Road Race series started last week.

He placed eighth in class, inside the top 40 overall, in a race won by James Shaw (Haribo Beacon).
