JOHN Lyon made his mark with Barnton and Frodsham Angling Club.

He has been named this season’s Club Champion, lifting the Hyland Memorial Cup.

During the season he has also won the Hazlehurst Cup, the Firthfield Trophy, the Amanda Lester Cup and the trophy for the heaviest fish caught in a match.

Throughout the 2013/14 campaign, 1091 anglers fished in matches with 789 troubling the scales adjudicators by putting a total of 4008lbs into the weigh bag – an average per angler of 5lbs 1oz 4drs.

Steve Lewis went home with the top pay-out from the last match of the season on Heesom’s Pool.

Fishing from peg 45, Lewis alternated bait between pinkie and maggot on a tip rod and a pole to land roach and skimmers weighing a total of 3lbs.

Second was Steve Walker, from peg 40, using a tip rod with maggot on the hook to tempt a bream of 2lbs together with small skimmers and roach to weigh in with 2lbs 13ozs 0drms.

The third slot was shared by Mike Daniels, peg 37, and Calvin Tagg, peg 35, who both put 2-8-0 on the scales.
