LUCY Burgess’ impressive season continued with a fifth place finish at the Women’s Head over the 4.5 mile boat race course on the Tideway stretch of the River Thames.

From almost 300 entries, Lucy’s crew finished in 18mins 39secs; 57 seconds behind the fastest crew of the day which contained Olympic champions Helen Glover and Heather Stanning.

Club captain Rachel Hooper said: “Lucy achieved her goal of a top five place at the hugely prestigious women’s head of the river and can now move into the summer season with confidence in being one of the best female athletes in the country.”

Northwich were also represented by an intermediate three crew, who were blessed with excellent conditions and sunshine after months of terrible weather to finish in a respectable time of 21mins 53secs.
