Match pointers
DEBUTANTS 1874 Northwich will hope to knock out another higher-ranked team when Premier Division Abbey Hey arrive in Winsford.
Ian Street’s men proved too strong for Squires Gate in the second round, scoring five times.
The hosts will have available again Michael Aston after he missed their midweek win while at work, though forward Chris Lunn is ineligible.
Ryan Mitchell (groin) is unlikely to be risked as he recovers from an injury sustained in last Saturday’s success at Atherton Collieries.
Northwich are unbeaten at Barton Stadium since September, a sequence of seven matches in league and cup of which six have ended with a victory.
Guests Abbey Hey, promoted to the top flight from Division One last season, have won only one of their past 10 games in all competitions. However that was in the previous round against Bootle.
Winners of the competition in 2010, when they defeated Winsford United in the final, they have fared well on previous visits there – winning on four occasions.
