Winnington Park 5 Alderley Edge 2nd 4
WINNINGTON Park served up a nine-goal thriller with Alderley Edge seconds in North Men’s League Division Two West.
Peter Evans was the home team’s hero, scoring four times and creating their other score as the hosts ended a four-match sequence without a win.
Their guests edged ahead following a penalty corner, despite Sam Plant blocking an initial shot.
Winnington responded with a set piece of their own, Evans evading the defensive charge before firing low past the goalkeeper.
The sides traded blows again; the east Cheshire outfit notching another short corner score, while Evans replied to level at the second attempt.
He completed his hat-trick to put Park in front for the first time following fine approach play from Mike Dodd and Oli Wilkes.
Dodd converted Evans’ cross to increase Winnington’s advantage after the interval, the duo combining again for Evans’ fourth.
