DOZENS of children from Northwich will represent Vale Royal School Sport Partnership during the Sainsbury’s Cheshire and Warrington Winter School Games in Chester on Friday.
Hundreds of pupils from schools across the county are set to take part, competing against each other in six different sports; basketball, football, hockey, indoor rowing, rugby and volleyball.
Play at the University of Chester starts at 10.30am following an opening ceremony.
Now an established part of the annual school calendar, the festival is the culmination of qualifying competitions within and between primary and secondary schools in the district.
“Schools in Northwich and Winsford have always been among the best in the country when it comes to engaging with competitive school sport,” said Chris Story, partnership development manager.
“The school games have challenged them further.
“An event such as this one also provides clear pathways into community and club sport, as well as providing a platform for the best athletes to perform.”
