POCKETS C closed the gap at the Mid Cheshire League’s Premier Division summit after pacesetters Owley Wood A suffered a second successive defeat this week.

The Weaverham outfit succumbed to champions Middlewich Legion D, leaving their closest rivals 15 points adrift following their success against neighbours Winsford Cons A.

Elsewhere Crewe club Riley’s enjoyed a 5-2 win at lowly Middlewich Legion A.

Castle Private B added to their advantage at the top of Division One, breaking the 100-point mark for the campaign as they whitewashed Owley Wood B.

Wharton Cons D, in second spot, are 18 points adrift after a routine defeat of Pockets A.

Cosey Club made the most of a postponement for Division Two leaders Winnington A, ceding a single frame to their hosts Pockets D.

Winnington D improved their chances of avoiding relegation after edging Victoria B but back-markers Wharton Cons B lost at home to Moulton.

Leaders Wharton Cons C moved 13 points clear in Division Three as a reward for winning at rock-bottom Victoria C.
