RUDHEATH will be crowned champions of the Northwich and District League for an 11th time if they win their next match in the top tier.

Their latest success, by the odd frame at Green Dragon A, leaves them 14 points clear of closest rivals Gladstone C with three matches left.

The Elms are tasked with pooping the party on Wednesday.

Gladstone C proved too strong for clubmates Gladstone B, winning six of the seven frames played, to all but make certain they will finish as runners-up at the end of their debut campaign.

Barn Owl D’s slump continued, a 5-2 defeat against Barn Owl C marking a third loss in succession, while The Elms are closer to preserving their place in the top flight for another season after beating Barn Owl B.

Owley Wood A won the other Division One match played this week, easing past back-markers Bowling Green A.

Hartford B became the first team to secure promotion this term, doing so in style after a whitewash of Owley Wood C.

They will return a higher level at the first attempt.

Greenbank A remain in second spot in Division Two after winning at Owley Wood B.

However Castle Private are favourites to overtake them, closing to within a point – and with two games in hand – following a fine win against Witton Chimes.

Bowling Green B, an outside bet to finish second, kept alive their hopes after edging Wheatsheaf.

Chapels landed what they hope will be a decisive blow in a fight to finish first in Division Three, thrashing fellow promotion contenders Blue Barrel.

Their lead is worth 10 points as a result, pushing the Castle outfit down to third.

The Lion replace them in second spot after scoring an expected success at lowly Davenham Legion.

Elsewhere, Greenbank B were comfortable winners at Green Dragon B’s expense while Beech Tree A claimed bragging rights after seeing off clubmates Beech Tree B.
