MIDDLEWICH Legion B, bottom of the Mid Cheshire League’s Premier Division, stunned pacesetters Owley Wood A in the latest round of matches.

Their 4-3 success gave Pockets C and champions Legion D an opportunity to close the gap to first place, which they did with defeats of Middlewich Legion A and Winsford Cons A respectively.

Elsewhere Simon Knowles’ run of 74 was a highlight of Riley’s success against Castle Private A.

In Division One, a resurgent Winnington C recorded a sixth straight win, this time at leaders Castle Private B’s expense.

Second-placed Wharton Cons D won at Owley Wood B, while Pockets A slipped into the drop zone after succumbing to Winsford Cons B.

Winnington A savoured a return to winning ways in Division Two following an emphatic victory against Wharton Cons B.
