Winnington Park 3 Lytham St Anne's 3
WINNINGTON Park salvaged a draw on Saturday thanks to Paul Stackhouse’s late strike.
The hosts almost opened the scoring after five minutes when Peter Evans thundered a shot against the frame of the goal before Mike Dodd shot tamely at the goalkeeper.
Lytham converted twice from penalty corners to establish a two-goal lead, a deficit halved when Tom Hughes charged down an attempted clearance and the ball ricocheted into the visitors’ goal.
A superb save from Andy Palin prevented the seasiders adding to their advantage, only for Danny Moores to block a shot with a forearm to concede a penalty stroke.
However Park’s net-minder swatted away the resulting flick, an intervention followed moments later by Dodd scampering clear to restore parity at 2-2.
Lytham edged ahead again following another penalty corner routine before Hughes unselfishly squared for Stackhouse to smuggle in Winnington’s third goal from close range.
