WITTON Albion picked a perfect moment to beat opponents for the first time as they progressed to the next stage of the South Cheshire Premier League play-offs last night, Monday.
A narrow 27-25 success against Cheshire Stars Pink keeps alive the Northwich-based team’s hopes of playing in the Championship Division next season.
Witton, who finished sixth in Division One, will play the victors of Ringwood’s head-to-head with Roundabouts tonight, Tuesday.
They had lost both league meetings this term with Pink.
Earlier in the evening, Cheshire Stars T emerged as comfortable 36-11 victors against clubmates Cheshire Stars S in the Championship Division promotion play-offs quarter finals.
The Middlewich outfit now meets Wright Manley Rubies, slender 26-24 winners against CE KAM, on Thursday at Sir William Stanier Leisure Centre in Crewe.
Before that they return to court tonight, Tuesday, to play a Dot Mack Cup semi final against lower-ranked Oaklands B.
Cheshire Police, handed a bye due to Indigo’s withdrawal, await in the final.
Meanwhile Winsford start their Division Two play-offs campaign against Glasshouse at Victoria Community Centre, also in Crewe, tonight.
