KATIE Brough put behind her the disappointment of last weekend’s Northern Cross Country Championships with a return to road racing on Sunday.

The Vale Royal Athletics Club star was second woman to finish the Brooks Alsager 5K, following fellow Great Britain international Helen Clitheroe – who clocked 26:51 – over the line in 27:09.

New recruit Jacob Brown, a 16-year-old who has joined from neighbours Crewe & Nantwich, placed inside the top 50 after knocking close to two and a half minutes off his time last year.
