CHAPELS, from the Northwich and District League’s third tier, scored the stand-out result in last Wednesday’s Team Knockout quarter finals.

They bettered Division One hosts Green Dragon A, winning a deciding frame to set up a date with eight-time winners Rudheath in the last four.

The men from Middlewich Road almost came a cropper against surprise package Nectar’s, conquerors of two top flight teams already in this season’s edition, after sharing the first four frames.

The league champions dug deep though, running out 5-2 victors.

Owley Wood A cruised through at the expense of clubmates Owley Wood B, while The Elms celebrated taking the scalp of league rivals Gladstone B in the remaining tie thanks to maximum breaks from both Amos Wright and Steve Smith.

In the Supplementary Shield, favourites Gladstone C squeezed through to the semi finals at the expense of lower-ranked Beech Tree B, who won three frames.

Another Division Three outfit, Barn Owl E, missed out by the odd frame against top tier side Bowling Green A.

Elsewhere Castle Private made it through at the expense of fellow Division Two team Bowling Green B, while Barn Owl C won a deciding frame at Greenbank A to progress.

Meanwhile the league’s committee has confirmed that Slow & Easy, from Division Two, have been excluded from the competition.

The Lostock-based outfit’s results for the second half of the season have been removed from record, meaning two teams from the section will have byes each week for the campaign’s remainder.
