SNOOKER: Pockets win but can't close gap

DEFENDING champions Middlewich Legion D lost to second-placed Pockets C, but the Winsford outfit could not close the gap to the Mid Cheshire League’s summit.

Leaders Owley Wood A remain title favourites after thrashing Riley’s.

Back-markers Middlewich Legion D emerged as victors from a head-to-head with Middlewich Legion A, while Winsford Cons A proved too strong for Castle Private A.

In the first division Owley Wood D lost to pace-setting Castle Private B, though Winnington C improved their chances of avoiding relegation by beating Winsford Cons B.

Pockets A continue to tumble down the table after succumbing to Owley Wood B, while Wharton Cons D edged Cygnet by the odd frame.

In Division Two, Winnington A’s second defeat of the season arrived against Moulton, while Cosey Club defeated Wharton Cons B.

Meadowbank B climb to second spot in Division Three after a whitewash of Owley Wood C.

Table-topping Wharton Cons C bettered their A team, while Victoria C’s search for a first win of the season goes on after they lost to Castle Private D.
