NORTHWICH romped to their biggest victory of the season against back-markers Ashton on Mersey, their third win in a row.

The hosts ran in 11 tries, making Ashton the second side in successive games at Moss Farm to fail to score a single point.

Despite enjoying early possession, the visitors’ resolve was broken after six minutes when Dorian Simes shook off three would-be tacklers to go over for a try converted by Chris Dutoy.

Blacks extended their lead midway through the first half when Chris Dale broke from the scrum, releasing Phil Williams for a converted score.

Dean Kingi collected from the restart and charged deep into the visitors’ half before the recycled ball was fed to skipper Gareth Davies who went over for a third score.

A penalty on 28 minutes produced an attacking lineout that gave Ben Jones the opportunity to attack on the blind side, avoiding attempted tackles as he crossed the line to guarantee the hosts a bonus point.

On the half hour a lineout deep in the Ashton 22 was tapped down giving Dara Cairns the chance to charge for the line, and his quick distribution allowed Williams to finish.

Northwich closed the half with a sixth try, this time Dale picking up from the scrum to feed Jones who provided Andy Chubb with his first of the game.

Northwich did not score again until the closing stages, Dutoy collecting a recycled ball before converting his own score.

Ryan McKibbin then carried deep from the restart, finding Kingi in support who sent Chubb over. Simes then made an almost identical score moments later.

Blacks added two tries in the final two minutes, first Dale beating defenders to a loose ball for a converted score before McKibbin broke from his own half for a touch down converted by replacement James Underhill.
