KATIE Brough is part of a strong Great Britain squad for this Saturday’s BUPA Great Edinburgh XCountry at Holyrood Park.

The Vale Royal Athletics Club star, who helped the senior women to team gold at last month’s European Championships in Serbia, will be keen to repeat the trick in Scotland.

It is an event that marked her return to elite-level athletics this time last year.

Brough was named before Christmas in a 12-strong line-up as a reward for her performance in Belgrade, with the first six to cross the line contributing to the collective total.

The women’s team is captained by Gemma Steel, an individual silver medallist at the Euros.

Vale Royal’s Stevie Stockton has represented Great Britain twice at the event, in 2010 and again the following year, finishing in 11th place on both occasions.

The race will be broadcast live on television by BBC1 on Saturday, from 1.15pm.
