NINE of a dozen crews from Northwich Rowing Club were category winners at Saturday’s Head of the Soar in Loughborough.
The junior girls dominated the quad events, with Samantha Over, Ashlene Hudson, Katie Meehan and Poppy Burgess victorious in the women’s IM3 class.
Hannah Cooney, Amelia Berry, Beth Wilford-Dutton, Imogen Martindale and cox Saffie Coppock were fastest in a WJ15 coxed quad.
Libby Chaplin, Victoria Gardner, Harriet Anderson and Leila McGrorty – again coxed by Coppock – were first in a WJ16 boat.
Emma Roberts coxed Abbie Davies, Callie Bloodworth, India Trigg and Victoria Gardner to first place in a women’s novice four.
There were prizes too for the club’s junior men, with Matthew Radford and Rhys Coffey victors in an MJ15 double. Chris Malley and George Lawton matched that feat in the MJ16 class.
Greg Murphy claimed category honours in an MJ15 single.
A successful day was completed when Tom Swithenbank coxed Matthew Roberts, Michael Lundy, Alexander Hine and Jack Koch to first place in an MJ15 quad.
“It’s fantastic to see the club consistently dominating events week after week,” said club captain Rachel Hooper.
“There is strength in depth in the junior squad that we’ve not had at Northwich before, which points towards a great future in the years to come.”
