KATIE Ingham claimed a regional title to cap a fine end to the calendar year for Hartford School of Gymnastics.
Her points total was best in the Novice aged 12 category during the North West Individual and Apparatus Championships at Robin Park Sports Centre in Wigan.
She outperformed all of her rivals on the floor, placing second too on beam to pip Salford’s Eleanor Canning to first place.
Clubmate Hannah Blain’s floor routine was second best in the same class.
Four other Hartford athletes had qualified to represent the county at the regional competition, including Cheshire and Merseyside champion Abby Hassall.
She placed third overall in the Level 4 seniors contest, including third position on vault.
Twin sister Amy was fourth in the final standings, her points tally boosted by the best score in the section on the floor and third on beam.
Olivia Mullineux was another to make the grade as category champion from the Cheshire and Merseyside Four Piece team selection competition.
In the Novice over 13 class, her highest marks were on beam where she recorded the second best total in the field. She placed eighth overall.
Rachel Newsham completed Hartford’s six-strong contingent at Wigan, recording a best of eighth on vault in the Level 4 seniors.
“To have a regional champion – as well as two county ones – is great reward for months of hard work,” said coach Michelle Oakes.
“Most of the top clubs in the north west were at Wigan, so to return with medals from there takes some doing.”
