WINNINGTON Park slipped to their first league defeat of the season at City of Manchester on Saturday.
David Thompson and Paul Stackhouse were on target for the visitors to establish a lead, only for their four-match unbeaten run to end when the hosts – the only other team in the section yet to suffere a reverse – scored four times in reply.
The visitors trailed when City converted a penalty corner, only for Thompson to make amends for an earlier miss when he levelled from close range.
Stackhouse then applied the finishing touch to a fine move involving Mike Dodd and Sam Cloake to put his team ahead.
City restored parity on the brink of half time, before doubling their tally after the interval to seal victory.
Robin Bowden scored Park’s only goal as the second string went down 4-1 at home to Timperley thirds in the North West League’s Division Four South.
