GLADSTONE C, victors by a slender margin against clubmates Gladstone A on Wednesday, are the early pacesetters in the Northwich and District League’s top tier.
Barn Owl C, boosted by Andy Brocklehurst’s maximum break, recovered from 3-1 adrift to defeat champions Rudheath A, climbing to second spot in the standings as a reward.
Elsewhere Owley Wood A, who sat out the opening round with a bye, started in style by winning six of the seven frames on offer at home to Green Dragon A.
There were wins too for Gladstone B and newly-promoted The Elms, both by a single frame.
Leaders Castle Private are one of four teams to boast an unblemished record to date in Division Two, their latest success recorded at Bowling Green B.
Hartford B defeated Hartford A, while Cyd Poole’s Witton Chimes won on the road at Iron Bridge.
Owley Wood B proved too strong for newcomers Slow & Easy, though Owley Wood C missed out at home to Greenbank A.
Chapels, who whitewashed Davenham Legion on the opening day in Division Three, followed up with another hefty win, this time at the expense of Nectar’s.
Barn Owl E, captained by Lesley Davies, matched the Weaverham outfit’s 6-1 success, with Beech Tree B on the receiving end.
Greenbank B proved too strong for Davenham, winning 5-2, while Blue Barrel and Green Dragon B were victors on their own tables against The Lion and Winnington Lodge respectively.
