POOL: League continues to be strong
THE Northwich and District League will run with three divisions off 11 teams next season.
That is less than last year, but organisers are confident their competition remains healthy.
“We expected six teams to drop out of the 36 that took part last year,” said secretary Kevin Barry.
“So to end up with 33 is more than we would have predicted.”
Bowling Green A return to the top tier after a short absence, while Green Dragon has entered two teams.
One of those switch from the now closed Buffs Club.
Beech Tree has added another side too, both of which play in Division Three.
Gladstone C, formed by players from champions Rudheath, Owley Wood and now-defunct Castle Private A, could be challengers to win the title in their first season.
The Northwich club provides three teams to the top flight, but Barnton-based Barn Owl lead the way with four.
Barry added: “It should be another competitive campaign in each of the sections.”
The new season is due to start on Wednesday, September 11
