THE toughest test so far; so described Ian Street tomorrow afternoon’s head-to-head with fast-starting Nelson.
1874 Northwich, fresh from a maiden victory in the North West Counties League at Daisy Hill last weekend, protect an unbeaten start against their Lancashire-based guests.
Goalkeeper Matt Conkie is still unavailable, so his understudy Adam Leake stands by.
Street has been busy adding to his squad this week, with midfielder Rick Bailey – a target during the summer – completing a switch from neighbours Congleton Town.
Lee Jones, captain at Winsford United during Street’s spell as manager there, is another new face along with striker Dan Shannon.
All three are available for selection this weekend.
Wide man Lee Hendley, impressive as a substitute during the second half of last Saturday’s 3-2 win, is pushing for a return to the starting line-up after recovering from a calf injury.
Nelson suffered a first defeat of term at Atherton Collieries on Monday night, but have strengthened since after signing former Northwich Victoria front man Richie Allen following his departure from Fleetwood Town.
Striker Peter Wright, after training with higher-ranked Nantwich Town this summer, is in line to make his debut at Barton Stadium too.
