HERE starts the next chapter.
1874 Northwich, a club started by former Northwich Victoria supporters last November, sends out a side to play for the first time in the North West Counties League’s Division One.
Manager Ian Street has seen progress on the pitch in pre-season, with his newly-built team losing only once in seven practice matches.
They scored 18 goals along the way, winning five times.
His solitary availability concern is over left back Dave Tickle, who has struggled with a groin strain in the past couple of weeks.
That means Ryan Stewart may play in a position he occupied occasionally for Winsford United.
The 1874 boss can call upon midfielder Adam Foy, signed last week from the club’s landlords, even though his captain is short on match practice.
Visitors Oldham start their fifth season at this level off the back of their best one – an eighth place finish in Division One last term.
Their record on the opening day since joining the competition in 2009 is mixed, winning two and losing as many.
