BRIAN Pritchard has warned his players not to let history repeat itself when Buxton visit.

Witton let slip a two-goals lead at the Silverlands in September, when the hosts rescued a deserved point by scoring twice in the second half.

“We can’t underestimate them as we’ve discovered to our cost already,” said the Albion boss.

“They caused us problems that day, and probably will again on Saturday because they’re a side who are perhaps better than their league position suggests.

“I think they proved that by pushing Grimsby all the way in the FA Trophy.”

Buxton, unbeaten in four matches on the road in the Premier Division, could climb into the table’s top six if they win their games in hand.

However they have yet to beat an opponent ranked in the standings’ top half on their own pitch.

Pritchard has called on Witton’s supporters to help make a difference this weekend.

He said: “It’s so important they turn out.

“It’s time people set aside any issues they may have and get down to the ground, because it does make a difference.

“I saw a lot of hands go into the air when asked [at a fans’ forum on Wednesday] if they wanted the club to be ambitious enough to stay in the play-offs places.

“Well, here’s a first chance to show they’re behind us.”

Pritchard is unlikely to change a team that extended a wins sequence to three matches in a 3-0 success against Eastwood a fortnight ago.

That means the likes of Josh Glover and Jamie Harrison may have to be content with a place on the bench.

“It’s difficult to justify too many changes when the team is doing well,” added the Witton manager.

“Last weekend’s postponement has disrupted us, but I’m not worried it will affect the momentum we’ve built since losing at home to Grantham.

“On the contrary, it’s given one or two players time to recover from knocks and for us to spend time together as a group working on a couple of things.

“The key tomorrow is to carry on doing the things we have done in recent weeks.

“This group has learned a lot since chucking away a lead at Buxton; the players are more aware that they can’t afford to let standards slip at any moment.”
