Match pointers
WITTON target a season first – three successive wins in the Premier Division – when Eastwood visit.

It’s a feat not yet managed this term by Brian Pritchard’s men, who have yet to keep back-to-back clean sheets in the top flight either.

The hosts start life without Ashley Stott, released earlier this week, so top scorer Shaun Tuck will start in tandem with Steve Foster in attack.

Long-term injury absentees Steven Connors (hamstring), Matthew Cross (knee) and Rory Fallon (arm) are all absent, although Josh Glover is ok to play despite a struggle with asthma forcing him off the field early in Tuesday’s 9-1 hammering of Middlewich.

Only two teams –North Ferriby and Hednesford – have picked up more points than Witton in the past half dozen matches.

Visitors Eastwood, now under the tutelage of player manager Chris Shaw, have sunk to the foot of the Premier Division standings after seven successive defeats.

Only Frickley, hammered 5-0 by Witton last week, have conceded more goals away from home this term than the Badgers.

Eastwood have failed to score on half of their 10 away trip so far too, losing five of six league games at teams in the top half of the table.

Shaw, his new right hand man Mitch Hanson and midfielder Danny Elliott are all suspended for the trip to Northwich, so the visitors will make at least two changes to the team that started last week’s 1-0 defeat at Blyth.

Midfielder Alex Troke, scorer of a double against Albion a fortnight ago, has since left.
