WOMEN cyclists of all abilities are being invited to join WAGs and Olympic champions for a ride around the scenic Cheshire countryside this September.

The Macmillan Cycletta Cheshire is a women-only event starting and finishing at Tatton Park on September 28.

It is supported by Olympic gold medallist Victoria Pendleton, also Macmillan Cycletta's ambassador, and Carla Kompany, who is married to Manchester City FC captain Vincent Kompany.

Victoria said: "It has been such a pleasure to be involved with Macmillan Cycletta so far.

"I'm proud to have been a part of it since the very beginning and am delighted to see more and more women continue to take up cycling."

Mum-of-two Carla took part in the event at Tatton in 2012 and is looking forward to joining Team Macmillan again this year.

"It's a really nice chilled experience which is about raising money without the competitive nature," she said.

"I encourage all women to take part as Macmillan can really change an individual's experience of cancer.

"As long as cancer exists they need our fundraising support."

The event caters for cyclists of all abilities with a manageable 20km novice distance, a 40km classic distance for women with more confidence and an 80km challenge distance for more experienced riders.

Cyclists will wend their way along a quiet, safe and well managed route through the country lanes around Tatton Park.

Macmillan Cycletta is also a perfect mother-daughter bonding session as it is open to girls aged between 12 and 16 when they are accompanied by an adult.

Well stocked treat stops will keep riders fuelled and a goodie bag, event village and Macmillan Cycletta Spa will welcome and reward women at the finish line.

Younger children will also be able to join in the fun with a fun and friendly Scootathlon for boys and girls aged between four and eight.

This is a mini triathlon where children scoot 150m, cycle 600m and run 200m.

Admission is £28 for the novice distance, £38 for classic and £42 for challenge.

There is no obligation for participants to fundraise.
