'Dead City' filmmaker ready to move on
A NORTHWICH filmmaker is moving onto new projects after overseeing the completion of his latest work.
James Kennedy, 22, completed Dead City in late 2007, after more than a year of constant work.
The three-part horror story is set at the old Regal cinema in Northwich, a suburban cul-de-sac, and at the Forest View Inn, in Oakmere.
His team began doing test shoots in December 2006, before moving in to the redundant cinema a day after it had close in January 2007 to begin shooting.
Now the dust has settled, and with the special two-disc DVD having been released, James has had time to reflect on a busy period.
He said: "It has been great and it's been bad, but everything came together in time for premiere last December, which was a hit.
"It was a great night, but since then we have been busy with the DVD. Orders have been coming in from America and Sweden, and this week we are waiting to hear from the French distributor to see if they will take it on."
"'Dead City' was a year and a half of my life for one hour 20 minutes worth of film, so I think it will be good to take a step away before going into something else."
Next on the agenda for James is taking part in a TV competition with a first prize of £5,000, before filming a series of short sketches for the Internet.
He said: "The sketches are in a series and will be called Horny Single Male', they will be like monologues, small sketches about three guys trying to find love.
"We will be starting to film those in June, and they should be on the Internet by July."
