THIS year marks 60 years since the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and to mark that occasion, the Guardian’s Remember When column is helping Northwich residents to relive their memories of that royal occasion.

These pictures were taken at a party in Northwich in 1953 to celebrate the Coronation.

The party was held at Marbury Hall and was attended by a host of residents who donned fancy dress and tucked into party food.

At the time, Marbury Hall was home to many ICI workers, who joined in with the celebrations.

The photographs, sent in by Moulton man George Majewicz, show children acting out their own mock coronation at the hall.

George, who is dressed in a kilt and was six at the time, is pictured carrying the crown and is stood fifth from the right.

“I was looking through a few things and just happened to come across these photographs,” said 66-year-old George.

“The photographs might bring back some memories for people who used to live in the area and may still be here.”
