POLICE are warning residents that vandals are on their rounds after an increase in graffiti related damage in the town.

During the weekend of April 4 and 5, four houses and two cars were damaged by yobs intent on leaving their tags on other people's property.

In one case the same vehicle was targeted twice. We have gathered evidence from the scene and are now working to identify those responsible.

Now police officers in the town are asking for residents to be vigilant and report suspicious activity to them.

PCSO Mark Abbott said: "Last weekend there were six reports of graffiti on Greenall Road. In each case we found gold or orange spray paint on a wall, front door or car.

"In one case the same vehicle was targeted twice. We have gathered evidence from the scene and are now working to identify those responsible."

Inspector Pete Minghella added: "They have used tags on the houses and vehicles, and these are identifying marks which each graffiti artist uses to distinguish their work from everyone else's.

"These are usually unique and we are now comparing these with others obtained in the area to help identify the culprits."

If you have information about this damage, or have seen anyone acting suspiciously, report it to Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000, or the Northwich Community Action Team on 0845 458 6392.
