A number of major supermarkets are recalling a range of products over safety concerns.

Customers have been warned to check their cupboards for any of the items involved in the recall.

Five frozen products are being pulled from shelves over concerns that they might contain a potentially fatal bacteria.

This follows a listeria outbreak earlier this year that was believed to have caused the death of eleven people.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has said the listed frozen veg may contain listeria monocytogenes which cause listeriosis.

Sainsbury’s are recalling five products on a precautionary basis due to “the possible presence of listeria”.

The Trading Standards website says: “ We are asking all customers who have bought this product not to consume it, and to return it to their nearest Sainsbury’s store where they will issue a full refund”.

In addition to this, Sainsbury’s are also recalling several of its filled breakfast biscuits due to a labelling mistake.

The supermarket’s Coconut and Yoghurt Filled Breakfast Biscuits and Cocoa Filled Breakfast Biscuits could both contain sesame, though the allergen is not declared on the label.

Tesco is also recalling a number of items.

The products include Tesco’s Mixed Vegetables with Red Peppers 1kg and The Grower’s Harvest Sweetcorn.

Tesco also announced that it will issue refunds for the products at your closest store and no receipt is necessary.

The FSA also announced that Ewing Seafoods is recalling its Organic Smoked Salmon as it contains Listeria monocytogenes.

According to an FSA spokesman, those who are more vulnerable to listeria infections are those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less that one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

As a precautionary measure, Ewing Seafoods are recalling all batches of Organic Smoke Salmon and Original Recipe Smoked Salmon.

No other Ewing Seafoods products are known to be affected.

Lidl is recalling Freshona Chopped Tomatoes with Basil because the product may be unsafe to eat as it contains pieces of plastic. Batch code: L327NDB 6A-31/12/2020 SI LB 224. Best before date: 31 December 2020.

Carmarthenshire Dairy Products is recalling its Boksburg Blue Cheese. According to Trading Standards the product was “produced without approval, and therefore it is not known what production and hygiene procedures have taken place at the premises”.

No other Carmarthenshire Dairy Products Ltd products are known to be affected.

Cake Zone Muffins are being recalled but distributors Star Distribution because they contain egg, milk, and wheat (gluten) which are not emphasised correctly on the label.

The flavours affected are Chunky Cherry and Double Chocolate (4 packs). Batch code:54-68060618. Best before date: 31 August 2018

Quorn is recalling packs of 2 Gluten Free Burgers because they contain undeclared gluten and is mislabelled.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to gluten.

No other Quorn products are known to be affected.
