MIDDLEWICH High's headteacher says he is 'extremely proud' of the school's GCSE results.

Seventy per cent of pupils achieved five or more A* to C grades and 54 per cent gained five or more A* to C grades, including English and maths.

The results were a slight improvement on 2010.

There were also some outstanding individual performances with a number of pupils achieving the highest grades possible in a whole range of subjects.

Martin Forster, headteacher, said: “Once again I am extremely proud of all our pupils. "The overall results in summer 2011 at GCSE were good.

"Most pupils made significant progress during Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

"It shows what can be achieved when the home – school partnership works together successfully.

"As well as congratulating our pupils who showed great commitment and determination, I would also like to record my grateful thanks to all the staff for their unstinting efforts and professionalism and the parents and governors for their incredible support and encouragement."
