Hospital Parking Campaign RSS Feed

Infirmary The Guardian is launching a campaign to scrap the controversial parking charges at Northwich’s infirmary.

The sheer weight of public opinion against the fees, which were introduced in April last year, is astonishing, and barely a week goes by without letters, emails and phone calls about them to our offices.

To join our campaign simply fill in one of our petition forms, available in the paper or at our office, and return it to Gina Bebbington at the Northwich Guardian, 3 Theatre Court, London Road, Northwich, CW9 5HB.

We will collect these forms for two months before giving them to Mike Hall, who will present them in Parliament.

Hospital charges should be fair

A FATHER wants parking charges at the Victoria Infirmary to be enforced properly after finding some cars flouting the rule during a recent visit.

Lee Humphries, 24, of Moreton Street, Winnington, took his daughter to the infirmary on Sunday, February 1, with his sister, when he saw cars who had not paid parked up.

“She paid her money for the ticket and saw there were cars who hadn’t. It should be enforced at the end of the day,” he said.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said they wanted to remind users of the facilities at the Victoria Infirmary that car parking charges are in force across the site, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Dave Robinson, security operations manager, said: “In line with our aim to reduce crime and ensure the safety and security of visitors, patients and staff at the Victoria Infirmary, we have recently employed an additional member of security staff, who will regularly patrol the site.

“Anyone who fails to clearly display a parking permit or ticket in the window of their vehicle is likely to receive a civil penalty notice.”
