Northwich Guardian: Who deserves to be a Guardian Angel?

The search is on for a Guardian Angel!

For the second year running, the Guardian is hosting a special awards ceremony to champion the town’s unsung heroes.

We want to know if a neighbour has made an outstanding difference to your life - or if your community is a better place because of the work someone has done.

Maybe you know someone who has shown great courage or great compassion, or maybe they are simply an inspiration to others.

If you think someone needs championing for whatever reason, we want to hear from you!

Last year we had eight categories looking to recognise the great achievements and tireless work people do.

Guardian editor Carla Flynn said: “Last year’s event was a huge success and judging by some of the stories we have featured in the Guardian this year there are so many inspirational people out there.

“Whether it’s someone caring for an elderly neighbour, or someone who keeps the streets clean, we want to acknowledge the people at the heart of our community. This is an excellent opportunity for us to recognise the work they do.

“I would encourage everyone to get involved and nominate someone who has made a difference to them.”

The categories will be judged by the category sponsors and the finalists and guests will be invited to an awards ceremony on December 6 (venue tbc) where the winners and runners-up will be announced. The winner will receive a trophy and certificate.

To nominate someone you think deserves to win an award, simply write to Guardian Angels, 3-6 Theatre Court, London Road, Northwich CW9 5HB or email click here to email not forgetting to put 'Guardian Angels' in the subject line.

1. Neighbour of the year

2. Young hero of the year

3. Parent of the year

4. Teacher of the year

5. Carer of the year

6. Local sportsperson of the year
