SCHOOLING for pupils with special educational needs (SEN) will be changed to make the most out of resources.

Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) has launched a consultation and a series of drop-in sessions to find out what parents, schools and the wider community think of its proposals.

These have been developed from options that were the subject of an informal consultation exercise held last year and relate to SEN provision in both mainstream and special schools.

Clr Mark Stocks, executive member for children and young people, said: “There was widespread general support for the guiding principles and the views received have been crucial in helping us to refine the proposals.

“For example, as a result of the feedback we are now proposing that Rosebank and Greenbank schools explore the benefits of closer collaboration through a soft federation rather than an amalgamation, as initially suggested.”

The consultation document can be downloaded at cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk or a copy can be requested by ringing 0300 123 7048.

l Drop in sessions, from 3pm to 7pm, will be held at Oaklands School, in Winsford, on March 12.

Rosebank School, in Barnton, will host its session on March 19 and the Russett School, in Weaverham, will hold a session on March 21.

Hebden Green School, in Winsford, will hold the final drop in session on March 25.
