DR JOHN Perkins, a retired chemical engineer, and a devotee of Mozart, gave a delightful talk entitled Desert Island Discs with Mozart. He followed the formula of the radio programme, playing eight excerpts across the spectrum of Mozart’s music. This was interspersed with information about his life, how he loved billiards often composing in his head while playing. John finished his talk with giving Mozart a billiard table and an inexhaustible supply of chalk as his luxury item and a bound copy of all his musical works.
The next meeting will take place at Portal Premier Golf Club on November 10. The speaker will be Dr Simon La Frenais his subject – Charles Darwin.
