Lach Dennis WI by Joan Faragher
Byley WI joined Lach Dennis WI for the evening at this month’s meeting, which made it a very social occasion.
President Joy Hoad welcomed everyone and, after the singing of Jerusalem it was with sadness that she reported the death of member Betty Dixon, who had served as President for some years.
On a happier note everyone joined in singing Happy Birthday to Vera Hardman who had recently celebrated her 90th birthday.
There was an attractive display of savouries at the buffet provided by the hosts followed by a delicious selection of desserts presented by the visitors. After the meal there was a generous raffle.
The speaker for the evening was Jean Finney who entertained by singing and reciting nursery rhymes while relating their significance to events in this country’s history.
Jackie Walker thanked her for her interesting talk.
The next meeting will be held on Monday 12 October at Lach Dennis Village Hall at 7.30 pm when the speaker will talk about ‘Uplifting Experiences’.
